Just like babies, LaLa Baby developed over time and was born in July 2007 and is growing rapidly. Here is my Mompreneur interview.
ABOUT ME
I am a busy body, a trait I undoubtedly received from my father, and an entrepreneur at heart. I currently have three jobs: Full-time Web Project Manger / Development Manager, E-Retailer / Blogger, and Wife / Mother of a toddler. Notice how I managed to squeeze six jobs in to two! We are also expecting our second child this December.
Where did I get the idea of starting LaLa Baby?
The idea of launching my own online boutique came way before I had children. My husband and I even dabbled in different types of products but with both of us working full-time we never really committed to the projects. It wasn’t until I had my daughter that I realized what kinds of products I really would love to sell. I was tired of shopping at the same old brick-and-mortars with the same clothes. I wanted something different for my daughter. So LaLaBabyBoutique.com was born.
How long have I been in business?
I have been developing the website and business for almost a year now and officially launched the online boutique in July 2007
What is my typical workday?
My typical workday starts with going to my “real” job; you know the one that pays the bills. Then I pick up my daughter from day care. Eat dinner, play with my daughter, get her ready for bed, and clean up the mess we made. After that I start my “dream” job; the one that I will get me out of my “real” job. I’ll either review and add new products to the boutique or write a couple of blog posts.
What inspired me to launch my online boutique?
I would have to say my daughter. I want to be a good role model for her and I want her to know that she is capable of becoming whatever she wants in life. I fill that I wouldn’t have the right to expect her to follow her dreams if I am not living it myself.
What did I do before becoming a Mompreneur?
I’m still doing it now. I work as a web development manger and project manager for a newspaper group in Southern California.
What’s next for LaLa Baby?
My goal is to open up a brick and mortar boutique within the next 5 years.
